DVD regional codes

The new WMP10 will let you change the code so other region dvd's will play.
You can only do this 3 times however. Is there a way to make this facility
permanent ?
I have friends and family in the UK and it would be great if we could
exchange dvd discs.

I believe it may be very difficult to change the region code once it is set.
If it is not set, then search for a "free" free region code software.
They will not have the ability to change the settings but will make the
region lock not go beyond the last number listed. Most of them you run before
using the CD/DVD.

Permanently setting your DVD drive to Region Free is the way to go !

Caution:
You normally only get 4 or 5 goes at changing the DVD
drive's region code, after that the DVD drive locks on the
last region code you changed it to.

So its best to just permanently make your DVD drive
Region Free, this is possible on most popular DVD
drives, But you have to know what you are doing, and
exactly which DVD drive model you have on your PC,
"exactly" the model.

DVD drives that are legally for sale with or without a PC in
a specific country used to have their DVD drive region
code initially set to that countrys DVD region's code, and
the user could manually change it up to 5 times, then no
further changes could be made. The DVD manufacturer
would set the DVD drive's region code at the factory
before shipping to the country of sale.
