DVD player with HIGHmat capability won't read my wmv file

I made a movie and then saved it to my hard disk as a wmv file. Then I burned
it to a CD-R. Tried to play it in my brand new Panasonic S47 DVD Player which
I bought specifically because it is supposed to support Windows media. The
DVD attempts to read my wmv file but then I get an error message that it
cannot read the disk. Put a new one in.
Thanks for any help. FYI, the CD-R I am using is from Office Depot.

i was under the same impression as you m8 but if you read into it the
panasonic machines only support images and audio in highmat to solve this i
am now using a pinnacle program and saving as an svcd i think you can use
moviemaker to edit then send file to pinnacle to save to cdrom
