DVD-Player can't read WMV-Files

I've been trying to burn my Windows Movie Maker Video witch I edited at home
onto a CD-RW to send it to friends for watching it on TV by using a
DVD-Player, but the players can't read WMV-Files. I know that WMM-projects
only work with Windows Movie Maker. Are there any add-ons available to change
WMV-Files into e.g. AVI-Files to enable DVD-Players to show my edited
videos???

ummm read about 80 other posts in this NG.
You need a DVD authoring program, such as Nero or Ulead MovieMaker, or Roxio
CD Creator to create the DVD using the AVI or WMV file you create with MM.

Hello,

If you want to send them a CD that can be played on their computer
=================================================
You can save your video in the DV-AVI format to your hard drive. Take note
that if your video is more than a few moments long you will not be able to
save it to a CD (as an AVI file)

You can also choose to save it as a WMV file with a smaller size by
selecting the appropriate option....if you look in the Media section of me
website you will see lots of videos from me and others like yourself...most
of my videos were saved at a data rate suitable for a download viewing
speed of 512kb/s The quality is very good at that speed...BUT if you take a
look at FEAR or Mars 1 and 2 by Weave you will see videos saved at a much
lower bit rate and yet they are also excelent for viewing...Weave is
getting very proficient at it now.

The video's on my site are all at least 320 x 240, you can choose a larger
size in Movie Maker and that will of course take up more space....most of
the videos on my site are less than 50MB in size.....So you see there is a
lot you can do without doing anything very special

If you click on the option that shows how to send in a video to my site you
will see one of the most important steps in Movie Maker for making the
video a size that is suitable.....your target size would be perhaps 649 or
699MB so that you can fit it on a CD

If it MUST be on a DVD-capable disk
==========================

Download the 30 day trial of Nero from www.nero.com and explore the options
for putting a DVD on to a CD. I can't remember off the top of my head what
the menu options are...if you are interested in this I can easily check it
out for you....but basically click on Nero Vision Express then select Make
CD and then select HD-Burn. You are then presented with the options to
import, edit, add chapters and a menu and burn to a CD. This method allows
you to put 1400MB onto one CD...clever stuff. Provided the DVD player is
new enough you should have no problems distributing your CD containing a
DVD !!

NOTE
====
I just did a test run...I used a one hour video clip and compressed it
using all of the options so that the data rate was 2,500Kb/s That's a very
low data rate for DVD...but there was almost 400Mb of space left so I could
have used a better data rate and improved the quality...OR, I could split
the project over 2 CD's and get a quality nearly as good as full DVD...

If you need help let me know...some of Nero's controls are not as obvious
as they could be, with one that defeats you every time unless you know what
to do about it...
