DVD Playback: Green spots before the eyes

Hi,

I have a terrible problem! I wonder if anyone can help?

I'm using a Powercolor Radeon 9000 64mb. I get small green spots when when
hardware acceleration is enabled for DVD playback. They only seem to appear
in black areas and they occur in a speckled, flashing way.

They don't occur when software decoding only is used. Here's what I've
tried so far:

- Various different versions of the Catalyst Drivers
- PowerDVD 4.0 and 5.0, ATI DVD player, WinDVD

My PC is an Athlon 2000 XP with Directx 9.0 installed, and the DVD player is
a Hitachi.

Thanks a lot if anyone can shed any light on this!

David.

Have you tried changing the monitor refresh rate? I don't remember if that
helps, but it does help with other DVD picture quality issues. I never had
that problem with powerDVD, but did with the MMC DVD player.

I tried that. I also tried lower resolutions. No joy!

Had the same problem only appeared on MPEG window or on the desktop around
the icons or before log-on at the bottom of my XP log-on screen. Did the
following that solved it, uninstalled all display drivers made sure that my
display card was no longer softmodded to use 8 pipes. Ran a cleaner to
clean out the registry. Restarted the machine let windows find the hardware
and ignored it. Than installed the lates ATI drivers from the disk that
came with the board and updated to the lates drivers from the ATI webside.

No more green dots in a grid like fashion, very annoying.

One final thing I did before installing the new updated drivers I ran the
PC check part of the MMC program and it told me what I needed.
