DVD not recognised as a DVD when trying to play with media center

I am using Windows XP with DLA enabled and have formated a blank DVD-R disc.
I then a copy video file from the shared videos that come with XP onto the
disc. The file is there and will play but media center says it cannot detect
a Video DVD in the drive. Also if I put the disc into ny DVD player it will
not play and the player says 'NO DISC'.

Can anyone please help.

Because it appears to be a Data DVD that you created and not a Video DVD.
To create a Video DVD you need to burn with third party software.
