I'm getting a new Samsung SH-S182M dvd burner and wanted to know what
the best brands of media would be for this burner....I would also like
to kow what's the best brand of media for lightscribe??? So far on
cdfreaks, I have read verbatim 16x+r's do well for dvd burning, but
what about dvd rw's and cd's??? Another thing, what would be the best
video editing software that's affordable...I read a review on Ulead
Video Studio 10 that was pretty good...just looking for reviews and
recommendations.

Hi,
Yes the verbitam DVDs are good for lightscribe, I use them personally.
As for CDs I like HPs/Phillips 52x lightscibe media. Verbitam also makes
DvD rws that are lightscribe enabled, so you can check those out too.

Software I think you got the right one in mind, VS10 is a godsend. If
you don't find that to your satisfaction, try Sonic, that program is
relatively simple, yet powerful none the less.

Hope this helps,
Yasin

1.Ghz 512 mb...I know I won't be able to burn dvd's like I would on an
faster machine but with money being tight and can't afford a new
PC...I opted to replace my hard drive and get a dvd burner....would
like to be able to burn descent dvd's and not just vcd quality...read
VS 10 min. requirements was a p4

How about inkjet printable dvd's and regular dvd media also....I have
always used Taiyo Yuden inkjet printable cd-r's that work great, but
not sure about the inkjet and plain dvd/cd media...usually I just get
whatever cd-r is cheap just to back stuff up with...I assume Verbatim
would be great for reg. dvd's? I just need the regular dvd's for
backup and testing....the lightscribe ones will be used once I know
the cd/dvd burns right on a plain disc...

Yes unfortunately you need a faster machine to be able to burn the
quality DVD you're looking for, the processor must be able to keep up
with higher burn rates.

as for the backup/testing ones, just get the cheapest ones you can find
(as you mentioned) and once you're assured that it works, go with verbitam.

and for the printing needs you have, verbitam has a product for that too:

but I think this is what you alluded to yourself.

thanks for the help...was hoping to still be able to burn descent
quality dvds even if it took longer than it would on a faster
machine...also..not wanting to spend a lot on editing software since I
can't burn the quality I want anyway as you said, but want something
that does pretty good anyway..
