DVD Drives not recognised.

I have a WinXP Pro "Dual Boot" setup. On one installation
everything is working OK but on the other, 2 DVD drives
are not recognised. They were working until I installed
Pinacle Studio and later removed the software. The only
other additional software on this installation is the ATI
Video for an All In Wonder card. In the control panel,
devise manager, there is a statement that windows
installed the drivers but can not find the equipment ID.
Any help appreciated.
Bill.

I'd get the latest WXP driver for the DVD drive(s) from the manufacturer's
website and reinstall them to see if it works.

Removing such software often leaves references 'orphaned' in the
registry and when boot finds it cannot satisfy them it leaves all
devices of the whole class (including CDRom and DVD Rom as well as
burners) out for safety. To tidy up, get a registry patch file,
cdgone.reg, from www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click
on it and merge it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you *do* use.
