DvD drive installation

I bought a new dvd writer, after installation windows boots to desktop and
after few seconds suddenly stops responding. After I unplug the dvd writer
and restart, my computer works again without problems. Jumper is set
correctly 100% so that cant be the problem it seems that windows has problems
installing new cdrom`s or dvd-rom/rw....I tryed the dvd writer on another
computer and works without any problems.

It`s not the first time that i attach a new cd or dvd drive but its the
first time i have this problem? Any help would be nice

Windows certainly doesn't have a problem with adding an optical drive... as
you noticed when you tried it on the other PC. However it seems your
particular hardware setup does.

Could be anything from a controller failure on the motherboard to a dodgy
cable to a power issue.

I suggest you take it to the local PC store and see if they can check.
