DVD Drive humping the Case Door.

Another weird computer happening.

I lend a DVD and wanted to watch it om Skybuck's Dream PC for 2006.

First I had troubles playing the DVD... As usual Windows Media player can't
play it.

Power DVD Trial had expired.

DivX didn't play it automatically and was showing all kinds of commercials
and spam shit.

Finally I managed to play it with DivX...

The video quality was bad <- mpeg compression yak, and sometimes shacky...
<tearing/lines on the screen <- maybe dvd video signal transport problems,
don't know yet what that's about.

The screen size was bad... I have 1920x1200 resolution monitor... Black bars
left and right and top and bottom couldn't get it away... but at least the
aspect ratio was maintained ?

Anyway... the experience was utter crap and I haven't even mentioned the
main reason.

The main reason is the BenQ drive is making WAYYYY TOO MUCH NOISE.

No way I am going to watch a DVD with such a noisy drive.

AMAZING.

Why does BenQ not make/deliver a drive which ensures an enjoyable DVD
experience...

Well NEVER MIND AND DONT BOTHER.

Finally I decided to make A IMAGE of the DVD... with Nero Express.

So the DVD was copied to a FILE IMAGE on the harddisk to prevent the jet
engine noise.

Apperently I closed the CASE DOOR and watched some TV, a war movie ;)

The burning to IMAGE went quite fast after 10 minutes or so it was down. 2
Gigabytes or so... maybe more... I dont know exactly and dont care.

BUT THEN...

I walked over to my computer and suddenly I heard: BONK.... coming out of my
computer case...

I was like: "WTF how can my case be making such a noise ? I was like
somebody dropped a hammer in there or something !?"

I thought to myself: "Maybe it's the Creative Labs soundblaster/surround
sound set stuff that's making noise... sometimes it clicks when switching
modes".

Then suddenly I heared "BONK" again... and then quicker: "BONK"

"WTF ?!"

Suddenly I realised it was the DVD Drive bonking against the close door, I
was like:

"GOD DAMN !!!"

"Stupid Nero software must be trying to eject the drive, how stupid ! It's
only a image ! How stupid is that ?!"

I haven't tested the image yet, I hope it works ;)

What's the point of this story, there are two points:

1. PC Based DVD drives are bad for enjoying movies ?!?!?!?

2. Nero is stupid :)

3. Downloading high quality movies has the future ;)

Though not all is bad... at least my mother has a very nice DVD player in
her home ;) and a big nice television etc...

Though my monitor is super sharp, I was hoping for super quality... but such
a monitor will only point out every little imperfection.

Me wonders if HD TV or stuff like that will be better for PC Based viewing
of FILMS/Movies.

The last point of the story:

I however will never-ever buy a DVD and never have and I thank god for that.

DVD Movies=Useless for PC

Or maybe I am jumping to conclusion...

Maybe this was just a bad DVD and bad experience.

Maybe the DRIVE can be tuned to spindle more quitely... but why bother ?

Maybe the DVD was bad quality.

Maybe I should find a decent dvd software player... etc ;)

OH SCREW IT.

I'll just wait for better media like HDTV or blueray or something =D

Until then I will be statisfied with downloaded movies from thepiratebay.org
;)

Hell, not much difference between those ripped movies and dvd movies.

I did view a DVD on a computer once. Lord of the rings that was ok.

That one was sharp. My sister even said to sharp ;)

Bye,
Skybuck.

Little update,

I took a quick look at the iso... it works... it does have the screen
tearing as well at the start.

So it's the recording on the dvd itself.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Yes it probably is the DVD recording that is bad. Likely the poor quality
media used by whoever ripped it.

S

Skybuck Flying

Well,

Right now I am watching the movie and it's not to bad...

The quality is quite good, though I can still see the mpeg compression a
little bit.

The tearing off the screen was only in the very first second...

It might have been because of the special computer graphics/effects :)

Bye,
Skybuck.

S

By the way.

I am watching it with Nero ShowTime.

It's the only player that could play it decently ;)

It started up automatically once I clicked on a *.vob file...

(With the menu's working and all... etc... though bit laggy menu's ;))

Wow that kinda funny and cool.

Nero ShowTime can play the video at different speeds and the voices speed up
lol.

It can even play it slowly too funny.

Ok bye now.

Skybuck.

Well, I am now half way or near the end of the film... I don't know yet.

It's a pretty intrigueing and interesting film.

Now that I like the film I will reveal it's name... it's:

"Nostradamus"

"The battle for the future has begun"
"Only the past can save it"

It reminds me a little bit of the x-files... but even better.

It's like a mysterie film.

I never heard of this film before which is kinda nice because I haven't seen
anything about this film, so everything is new and unknown =D

Bye,
Skybuck.

S

Skybuck Flying

Well the film just ended...

I give the film an 8 or 9 for excitement factor :)

The ending was a bit weird but kinda funny as well, open ending, maybe for a
series or second film ;)

Nero ShowTime also scaled it properly so that the screen was filled from top
to bottom... with only black bars left and right ;)

Thanks to the iso om the harddisk the experience was good and enjoyable :)

However I will now return to my crystal clear, razor sharp computers games
:)

Bye,
Skybuck.
