Yes,,I have a microsft office...i was either hit by a virus, or had a bad
roxio uninstall. I lost my drive, however was able to see the drive once
again and played dvd, audio, and picturs,,,but i could not load a software
cd, or read any of my data disk (used as a backup)...thanks for the response

Yup..i cleaned everything roxio had on my system.
I am still puzzled as media play reconizes the drive and play music and
vidio. autoscan will search the disk, bypass data files (i can see the
names) and stop at the pictures. And show the pictures.
I am assuming this can be resolved with a windows xp adjustment or by HP.
Pioneer (makers of the drive) beleive the solution resides with HP as they
know what was shipped with the system. However HP was of no help. they told
me i needed a new drive. did not make sense to me. I could restore the
system to faactory setting. I will do this as a last resore.

just closing the thread...thanks for your thoughts...sometimes fixes come in
the simple adjustment. I went into my disk managment screen...changed my
drive letter and everything began to work. sorry to trouble you and thanks
