Did it ever "acknowledge" disks?
Or has this problem recently occurred with disks that
were once "acknowledged" but now are not?
You need to give us a few clues......................

Yes it did acknowledge disks, and for some reason, all of a sudden, no disks
will be read at all, no installation disks, dvd's cds etc!

Is it detected in device manager?
Any error messages?
Any change you can make a correlation with the problem occurring?
Any other problems?
Is it a media player issue?
Are D: drive/disks revealed via Windows explorer/My Computer etc?
Have you tried system restore?

Try this,
Place a music CD into D: drive
double click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
Listed should be your drives, is D drive listed?
If so, is it listed as having content?
