DVD Decoder

Hello, I have a Sony VAIO and did a hard disk restore on
it about 2 - 3 months ago and haven't watched a DVD on it
since. Well I just tried and every player I've tried to
watch it on gives me a decoder error, either it isn't
working properly or it can't be found. I know it was
there before without me putting it on because I watched
DVD's before. Can anyone help me with this??? Thanks!
 
You will have to reinstall it using the CDs that came with your PC.
Probably either WinDVD or PowerDVD, whichever was provided by Sony.

But none of those disks came with the computer, only the
hard disk restore CD's, can I find it on there somehow?
 
Contact the PC manufacturer. If your PC came with WInDVD or PowerDVD they
must have given you some method of restoring it after a hard drive format or
other mishap.
