Having tried to play a DVD through WMP on my machine, I get the following
message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder
is not installed on your computer."

I recently had my PC formatted and, although I could watch DVD's before; now
I get this message.

The "Help & Support" section gives me a list of sites to get a decoder, all
of which have a fee. I know for a fact I could play DVD's before, and I'm
sure its just a case of finding the CD's(Which, I can't find) that came with
my PC. Is there any way I can download the file(s) I need for free?

Try installing one of the applications that my have come with your dvd drive
like powerdvd.
Then try again.

Being all out logical, there's 2 ways you could fix this problem.... Download
a decoder illegally (bad idea) or find a cheap, trial version from the net.
But I've already tried to get one for free off the net. You can't just search
it on google because its all crap results. No offense to google. Its my
favourite search engine. But there are just no free decoders out there that
don't have a 30 day trial, or some other sily thing like that.
I thought this was a FREE world! lol
