dvd/cd drive

I enstalled a new dvd burner and now my dell won't recognize the old cd
player or the new dvd burner.
Any help?

Followed by a few questions for you.

1) Did you properly set the jumpers on the new and old drives when you
installed them?
2) If you just use the old CD drive - does everything work?
3) In the system BIOS, do you see the drive(s) there?
