DVD/CD burners

Looks like I'm in the market for another combo DVD/CD burner. Have used
LiteOn brand for years but this time around I've got a failure in less
than one year.

Any suggestions on other brands that may be more durable these days? Or
are they just 12 month devices now?

First, let me say that I'm on my second LiteOn drive and I've had no
problems with either of them. Second, as in all things that get cheaper and
cheaper, they also get made cheaper. When CD and DVD burners were $300
each, they were made a little sturdier. Now that they're less than $500,
expect shortcuts.

I like LiteOn, but I've really gotten to like my Plextor.

I'm using a Samsung, and it hasn't failed yet.

I'm not sure if they do combos but....

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

I've had good luck with LG.
