DVD Capture

How can I use files from my own DVD's to insert into my movies. There does
not seem to be a capture method suitable.
 
You copy the VOB files to the hard drive, then convert them to something
that your Video Editing software can understand.... (PowerDirector can
import VOB files without conversion).
