DVD Capture Help!

I was wondering if there is such a free program that would copy or capture a
video picture from a dvd player after I pause player at part I would like to
copy or capture. I would like to get still pictures from my computers dvd
player.I tried a few different capture programs but instead of copying a
still picture it just copies a blank black square.Thanks in advance ,Bill.

====== probably depends on which player you use (I use Media Player
Classic),
but I have found the free and open source "smartision ScreenCopy" to do
the trick, not only with movies, but also many games, like GrandPrix
Legends....

I'm sorry to say that caption program did not work.But thank you for your
help.Oh I wanted to let you know my windows media player cant play dvd's,or
can it?
