Dvd burning

Can it be any slower? say you do download a movie, we all have or most of us,
if you download in divx form it will fit fine on a cd but if not you need to
convert to dvd format which has got to be a 4 hr process and my pc is up to
speed. And it takes some knowhow to do. Theres all these programs such as
sonic dvd, nero and wincdr but the prob is, you record your dvd with your
divx downloaded movies and guess what they dont play on your dvd player.Which
to me makes the pc's connection with entertainment and dvd recording useless,
no need for dvd player at all. Right?? No. Now you have to toss your home dvd
player out and buy a new one that is divx certified. Cheap but still there
getting us again. If you buy the divx dvd player then your dvd burner is
useless and so are those high dollar dvds. Also the ice age recording speeds
of dvds. You can download 700mb movies all day long and burn them to a 52x
cdrom and never once need a dvd. It burns me up cause it cost me alot to
learn this. Buyer beware.. go to electronics store and buy divx capable dvd
player itll save u big $$$$$$$$

Because you dont know how to convert from one format to another doesn't mean
everyone needs to throw their dvd player in the bin. You should learn how to
use your computer properly.

Do you have a recommendation for a decent tutorial on the general use of
DVD's?

Use google. There are many diffrent ways to use DVDs. Watching films from
various regions. Burning data to dvds for backup. Is there a particular
aspect of DVDs you want to know. Sorry I can't be more specific but there
really are too many ways to use DVDs.

Just a general observation that most of the OEM's get delivered without
instructions. Accordingly we are left to experimenting with trial and error
and googling when specific problem are encountered. Just wondered if there
was one particular site that was known to the experts as being superior.
