I just purchased a laptop with windows vista home premium. Every time I try
to burn a dvd, there comes upp a message that says that the program stoped
working. I have tried with two diferent programs that was sent with windows
vista. I can't burn any dvds because this message always comes up whn 30-40%
finished, And the program shuts off.

Check the manufacturer's website to see if any mention is made of the
problem there and maybe new drivers released. If not it may help if you
give some details of make, model, how much memory etc.

The error doesn't seem to give any useful message but you may find more
detail in the event logs, the problem could be a faulty drive, a faulty
driveR, blank disks that the drive doesn't "Like" - it happens - or
something installed wrong (also happens) so anything you think might be
relevant will help.

Check Control Panel (Classic view) > Problems and Solutions > View problem
history > right click on a problem and select View problem details > Use the

You're the God of Thunder. Use your hammer on it
:)

Had same problem, assumed it's a feature of Vista, as several
similar posts.
Gone back to XP which doesn't give any trouble.
Maybe MS is trying to foist DRM on us.

Are you using Vista built-in DVD burner? IMAPI-based? If you're
looking for absolutely FREE CD/DVD & Blu-Ray/HD-DVD
burner you're welcomed to give a try to the StarBurn from Rocket
Division Software.

Just in case here's an URL:

www.rocketdivision.com/starburn.html

At least it does not stop at 40% when burning DVD under Vista :)

Thanks!
