DVD Burner errors

Hello,

I need some help. I have Windows XP and a Lacie external DVD RW burner. Was
working fine until a couple of days ago - now its not.
When trying to burn a home movie I got a first error:
'disc burnt but with errors'.
I'd saved the image file so tried with this and got:
'Session Fixation Error while writing lead in Meium Error 037201'.

I searched on the web and this is listed as an Atapi error. I checked in
device manager and both primary and secondary channels are in DMA mode.

The burner works with both USB 2.0 and Firewire. With both I get the same
issue. However I have a four way USB 2.0 port and when I try with the USB
cable to the drive the software warns me that its a USB 1.0. I tried all four
ports the same thing happened, yet my external hard drive is running on a usb
2.0 without any problem.

I've also tried Lacie firmware upgrade (I already had the latest version)
and also I uninstalled and reinstalled the external drive. All the drivers
appear to be working ok, and in device manager it lists the device as working
properly.

I've hit a brick wall and need some help. Am I missing something?

Last point - I'm a PC novice so please bear that in mind with any replies!!!

What burning app are you using, updated it lately..? A home movie from an ISO
on the HD, DVD-R-RW disk, directly from the camera, etc.. From where
exactly..?
What media type(s) are you using..?

Hi,

Yes sorry should have posted that. I am using DVD creator as part of Roxio
Easy Media Creator version 7.5.
The home movie is in finished form saved on an external hard drive. I am
trying to burn on to a double layer 8.5Gb DVD + R (Verbatim - always used
previously without problems).
The software is updated - as I checked the roxio website first.

Can you burn other Files..?

How do you know that that particular file doesn't have errors..?

Click the start button, click run, type Eventvwr.msc in the box, check for
errors, see if there are any that may be app or device related..?

http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ This is an advanced tool not a fix..
Use the above tool to ID the file type/format ie..mpeg#, etc..Browse to the
file and click it to load into the tool, then see what the stat is.. At the
bottom click the render bar and see if it renders successfully..

You might try to defrag the HD where the file is located, try and copy the
file to another location, see if it will burn from there.. Try the default
settings in the Roxio app.. Try disabling your AV app before burning,
remember to enable it before going online..

Investigate these links too..

If the drive is not showing any errors in device manager or elsewhere, you
may need to run your problem by Roxio's & or Lacie's customer support and see
what they recommend..
