when capturing,saving and sending(DV-AVI) my mini-dv
video through WMM2 to playback on my camera,DVD program
or even the media player, I lose a majority of the
orginal video quality.(canon XL1--firewire and firewire
card--Dell 8200--Pent.4 CPU 2.53 Ghz--512 Mb RAM--windows
movie maker2)

Make sure you have as little as possible running in the background as
possible when you export.... antivirus software running in real time is
often the main culprit. Snooze it while you're exporting... but remember to
re-enable it afterwards.

Never use MM2 for capturing!

I posted several articles regarding this already in this group!

I had same issue for this, so what is your suggestion for capturing?
I tried WMM, NeroDVDplus. Both are same. The quality is too poor.

Whar do you mean by "quality loss" ? Is is dropped
frames? Blurry Images?

What profile are you capturing to -- I use the "Video for
Local Playback (2.1 Mpbs NTSC)" while capturing from a DV
camera and the video quality is quite close to the
original.
