How do you find duplicate text entries using conditional formatting? All
information is geared towards number format.
I have names (all in one col) that I would like to find out if they are
duplicated...

Highlight the range you wish to Format. then do Format > ConditionalFormat >
CellValueIS > EqualTo > =$B$1 > Format > select the formatting > ok > ok

Then, whatever value you type in cell B1, all cells in your range that match
that value will be Conditionally formatted.........
