duplicate personal folders

Using Win XP Home, Outlook 2003. I'm not sure what the column on the left
side of the screen is called... it shows the mail folders (favorite folders +
all mail folders), then below that are options for mail, calendar, contacts,
and notes.

My problem is that in the "All Mail Folders" section, three folders are
showing:
Personal Folders, Archive Folders, and another Personal Folders. The 2nd
Personal Folders is an exact duplicate of the original. The same individual
folders and emails appear in both Personal Folders. I think this started a
few years ago and tried to copy the old pst folder to the new pc, but now I
would like to fix it.

I'm afraid that if I try to delete the duplicate, I might be deleting the
original at the same time, thereby losing all my email records.

Can somebody tell me how this happened, and what I can to to delete only the
duplicate and not both of them?

If you cannot right click on the extra Personal Folders and select "CLose" - the create a new mail profile as yours is corrupt. Control Panel->Mail Icon.

I apologize for asking my question before checking previous posts. I have
created a new profile and copied all my old folders to the new personal
folder column and was then able to close the old duplicate.

BUT.... now I have lost my contact list and calendar.
How do I reconnect to them?

I just noticed that I have 2 pst files. One is named pst1 and the other is
just pst.
When I look at the settings in Outlook Data Files -under settings I see it
is pointing to the pst1 file. Can I manually change that (on the filename
path under the general tab) to the other pst file w/o corrupting anything?
Is it possible that I'm just pointing to the wrong pst file and that's why I
lost my contacts and calendar?

I'm now unable to find my calendar & contact list, each of which had hundreds
of entries that were quite important. Also now I see that some new emails
are being directed to my old profile and some to my new profile. How do I
re-direct all new emails to the new profile only?

It seems that every correction I take leads to 2 more problems!

I thank you in advance for any help you can give me!!!
