Duplicate Personal Folders in Folder List and Duplicate Data Files in Email Acco

B

BillBR

When I installed Outlook 2003, I can see two identical
sets of Personal Folders in the Folder List. I also see
two of the same data files names listed in the E-mail
Accounts dialog box in the "Deliver new e-mail to the
following location:" drop-down. However, I only have one
data file (Outlook.pst).

The only difference I can detect between these two
Personal Folders in the Folder List is that one of them
has a rolodex-like icon beside it while the other has an
icon with a clock (?) and little house resting on what
looks like a stack of paper (I'm presuming this is for
the Outlook Today page). However, regardless of which
top folder I click on, I get the same Outlook Today page.

How do I get rid of the duplicate Personal Folder in the
Folders List?

Thanks in advance,

BillBR

The easiest way to go here is to recreate your mail profile. Also because
you stated you just installed Outlook 2003. It is always a good practise to
recreate your mail profiles after an upgrade/downgrade of Outlook. You can
recreate your mail profile in;
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Shwo Profiles...

Here are the steps that you can use to try and resolve your issue:
1. Close Outlook.
2. Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click the Mail icon.
3. Click on Data Files.
4. Highlight any data files listed and Select Remove.
5. Now Click on Add and Select the version of .pst file. (If the file was
created in a previous version of Outlook then select 97-2002)
6. Click OK.
7. Browse to the .pst file, highlight it and Click Ok.
8. Close out of any screens that are still open.

This should remove the duplicate .pst file and you should now have only one
.pst file.

I hope this information is helpful.
