R

RC

Hello,
I ran archive recently, and since then I have four Archive Folders listed,
one Personal Folder and three "Outlook Today" Folders, all showing up on hte
left pane when I open Outlook. THe Personal and Outlook today (with Personal
folders in brackets next to the workd, all seem identital and I have sent
test messages that appear in all there of these listed folders.

How do I get rid of all but the current unarchived folders?
Thank you

Ron

Somehow your profile got corrupted

Create a new profile (do not copy it);
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

To access your current pst-file in the new profile;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

To set it as the default delivery location;
Tools-> E-mail Accounts...-> button Next-> use the dropdownlist below

Thank you Robert.

Earlier, when I got your reply and was at the computer with the problem, =
at my home, I briefly went through your steps, but I was confused a bit so =
I left there without completing the process you suggested. I would like =
you to help me understand a few things. Will the old profile be deleted?
Will all of the old data in the pst file be moved over to the new = profile?
I have a bunch of email addresses I "pop" using the Outlook program. Do = I
have to select each one that appears in the drop down list? I guess I might
be a little hesitant to push the button, but I assume = the PST file will
remain if I mess anything up and have to reinstall = Office. I think first I
would have to save the PST under a new name, but is this correct?

Thank you

Will the old profile be deleted?

I'm not Robert, but I can answer some of these questions. This one is "no".
Creating a new profile doesn't affect the old one. After you verify the new
one works, you can then go back and delete the old one.
Will all of the old data in the pst
file be moved over to the new = profile?

Yes. Since all your Outlook data is stored in your PSTs (the Outlook Today
PST is your default delivery location. The Personal Folders one is a
separate one. You can find out where they are by right-clicking Outlook
Today or Personal Fodlers, choosing Properties, then Advanced. Look at the
"Filename" field), by connecting the existing PSTs to the new profile,
you'll have access to everything in them.
I have a bunch of email
addresses I "pop" using the Outlook program. Do = I have to select
each one that appears in the drop down list?

You'll have to add all of your accounts back into the profile manually.
I guess I might be a
little hesitant to push the button, but I assume = the PST file will
remain if I mess anything up and have to reinstall = Office.

Correct, but if you want to be safe, copy your PSTs to a separate folder
when you do. That way, you'[ll have a backup in case something goes wrong.
If you do need to restore one, never overwrite a PST with one of the same
name. I suspect that's what caused your problem in the first place.
