Duplicate messages in Outlook 2003 SP2

I have recently implemented Outlook 2003 on a Win XP Pro machine. I have six
separate POP3 accounts and do an auto dowload every 45 minutes, leaving the
messages on the server unless they are deleted from the Deleted folder. This
is so that each account can also be retrieved on separate computers within
our organisation by the relevant personnel.

If Outlook is kept open then it retrieves the messages correctly, without
duplicating them. I have message rules to sort them into folders within the
Personal folder hierarchy. However if I shut down Outlook and then reopen it,
it downloads all messages from the servers for each account.

How can I correct this behaviour?

You may be able to correct this behavior by creating a new mail profile.
You may also have to allow the mail to download once completely and be
removed from the server or, if your server allows web access, to move the
mail in the Inbox of the mailbox on the server to another server folder so
that Outlook cannot see it again.
