duplicate icons

It sounds like the icons are both in the "All User" Desktop folder and in the user's Desktop folder.

How can I clean up (or remove) duplicate icons from the
deskop?
 
Yoy are right it does sound like that, but Ihave checked
and only my user profile has thos icons. If i delete one
the other stays, but if i click on it I et a message
thatthe folder was moved or remove. I still need help.

When both are there, what are the 2 paths? Right-click, Properties, and General.

They are identical for example
icon 1 C:\Documents and Settings\mac\Desktop
icon 2 C:\Documents and Settings\mac\Desktop

What apps or files are these icons linked to? Can you delete both and recreate them fresh?

Another idea is to delete the file: C:\Winnt\ShellIconCache.

This will force Windows to recreate them fresh itself. Sometimes this file gets corrupted.
