Duplicate email

I have two pc's: a laptop that I travel with and a desktop that stays put.
Both have Outlook 2003 (11.8010.6568) SP2 (Microsoft Office Professional
Edition 2003). Both machines have all the available Outlook updates
installed. The laptop is running XP Pro SP2, the desktop XP Pro SP1. Other
than SP1 on the desktop, both machines are up-to-date as far as XP is
concerned. Both are set up to receive pop3 mail and both are set up to leave
a copy of messages on the server until they are finally deleted from "Deleted
Items". With Outlook open, the desktop retrieves the same email messages
over and over again. I can leave Outlook open on the laptop all day long and
it never duplicates any messages. I do not have any rules enabled.
Disabling virus checking does not make any difference either. I do not want
to uncheck "Leave a copy of messages on the server" on the desktop. How can
I stop the desktop from constantly retrieving the same messages?

One more note: I also set up these pc's for use by family members, so there
are the same four profiles on each machine and all have administrator
profiles. Only my profile experiences this duplication problem. The other
profiles do not retrieve duplicates into their Outlook in boxes.

I would recommend trying a new mail profile on the machine with the problem.

I don't understand your suggestion. Do you mean "delete the existing profile
and set it up again"?
Anyway, I ended going into my pop3 mail account (Yahoo) and moving the
contents of my inbox into a new folder. From that point on, and as new mail
came in, the desktop stopped duplicating email messages. I then set up
another dsktop to leave at a different office that I use and it also started
duplicating messages. So, I did the same thing as before: I emptied the
Yahoo inbox and now all three machines behave as I had hoped AND all messages
stay on Yahoo until the "master" machine moves them to its Outlook deleted
folder.
