duplex printing sporadic

Using Word 2010 on Windows 7 and an HP Officejet Pro L7590,
an initial multipage document or two will print two-sided (all other
settings standard), then only the last page prints single-sided. I
must restart my computer to restore duplex operation and it doesn't
last. Any suggestions?

Updating or even reinstalling the printer driver might help. Or are you
saying that the issue occurs only when printing Word documents?

Yes, Stefan, only with Word. Printer works fine with Acrobat Pro. All
HP printer driver updates have been installed.

And it occurs with any document you open in Word?

The problem is that HP printers and Word/Office often don't play well
together. You may actually have to downgrade your printer driver to find one
that works with Word. :-(

"Downgrading" means, for example, using a printer driver supplied with
Windows. Of course, that is likely to limit the functionality of your
printer.

But there's no reason you can't have two drivers installed for the same
printer (they'll probably have different names, or you can name them
differently). Choose the "good" one for the default and select the other one
when duplexing from Word.
