Dungeon Siege II Video PC to HDTV Text Problems...Conclusions?

I've been trying off and on for some time to play a number of PC games on
my HD TV. So far it has been unsatisfactory even with driver updates. The
Desktop PC with an nVidia 6800 that has DVI output won't fill the screen
properly and the game picture doesn't look any sharper then a DVD movie.
The Laptop PC with an ATI Radeon 9000 formats to the HD TV screen super but
its sharpness isn't any better then the nVidia on the Desktop PC.

Yesterday I tried Dungeon Siege II on the laptop and immediately noticed
that the game screen text was blurred enough to be very hard to read. I've
reached a conclusion on this I would like your opinion on...

If in game text is not designed (large enough) for TV displays then that
game is not practical to play on a HD TV?

I.E., Xbox and PS2 game screen pictures on the HD TV look just as blurry
(assume they are not 720p or 1080i) or just as sharp as the PC game screen
pictures but the screen text for those games is larger and easy to read?

I'm thinking that although I would love to get a larger PC game screen by
using my HD TV that unless the game is designed to play on a TV or PC
monitor it just isn't worth fiddling with any more because I can't stand
trying to read smudged-up text.

Am I missing something? Do you agree or not? Would a converter of some
sort somehow do a better job then the nVidia or ATI cards do and thus allow
small readable text in games that were not designed for display on a TV
screen?

Thanks much.
