How do I partition a space on my drive and set up a duel boot system?
I AM A N00b

You need to start with the earlier system - presuming that this is two
versions of Windows. Say a Win98, installed in its own partition, with
either a separate Primary one of adequate size for XP, or a free space
in which one can be made. If your 98 were occupying the whole disk, you
would either have to start over, using FDISK to delete everything and
then make a new suitable size partition for Win98 and install it, or use
some third party Partition manager to shrink the Win98 one.

Then you boot the 98 and run the XP CD from it (an Upgrade one - no
point spending extra money on a Full, and the 'OEM' ones will not work
for this). Enter install, change Upgrade to New install, then when it
asks where, hit ESC so you can either select free space and make a new
partition in it to use, or select a different existing partition from
the 98 one. Carry on and it sets up the dual boot (initially starting
in the 98 partition, so be careful not to damage the files there by say
doing a SYS C: on it)

To Mobius,
Dual means two, duel means a fight.
