dual workbooks

i am trying to open two workbooks simultaneously but no
matter what i do the new workbook simply overwrites the
existing,open, workbook - any suggestions?

As answered at your earlier post:

To see a button for each workbook in the toolbar, choose Tools>Options
On the View tab, add a check mark to 'Windows in Taskbar'

Or, after you've opened the two workbooks, click on the Window menu
You should see both file names at the bottom of the menu.
The active workbook has a check mark to the left of its name
Click on the other workbook to activate it.
