After a forced shutdown of my PC, windows would not start.
(I suspect Windows was in the process of automatic update
and I did not know that and turned power off.) I
reinstalled Win XP from CD. Subsequently, when I start up,
I am asked to select between two operating systems, both
Win XP. I initially found that either selection would give
an acceptable result. I have subsequently always chosen
the first listed installation -- the default version. I
have done numerous automatic updates to the selected OS,
including Service Pack 2. I would like to know how
the "second" Win XP OS can be safely removed or
deactivated. I believe some unexpected and odd restarts of
Windows may have been due to the dual OS.
