I am attempting to set up my two monitors ... I now it so
that each is working, but they simply mirror each
other ... I want to use them indepently and so that a
program can be stretched across each monitor.

How can I accomplish this?

What make/model is your video card?
Do you have in your display properties the option to
extend the desktop on multiple monitors? Maybee you need
tu upgrade your drivers.
ATI, for example, provide Hydravision to better manage
extended desktop.
See on the webpage of your video card manufacturer if
anything like this exist.

Hi:

1) Right-click an empty area on your desktop
2) Choose Properties
3) In Display Settings choose the Settings tab.
4) Left-click the #2 monitor icon to select it.
5) Check mark the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" box.
6) If you wish, on the #2 icon, left-click drag and drop it to the
other side if monitor #1 if that is how your monitors are physically
placed.
7)Apply
8)OK

This is what I do and think it is what you are after.

Once done, you may want to change the refresh rates and resolutions of
either or both monitors. Just click on the #1 or #2 icon (for the
monitor you want to adjust) to select it >Choose Advanced ... >Monitor
or whatever your video card software gives you ...

Happy trails,
