Dual Monitors

I am using an Asus 9600XT graphics card, where the VGA output is for my
primary monitor and the DVI is for a secondary monitor. This setup used to
work beautifully untill i created a new user account. Since then windows
turns off the secondary output when it starts up. I have update drivers,
tested it in safemode where the secondary monitor just mimiced the primary,
uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, swapped screens, created new user
account, deleted the one that caused the problem.
I know how the setup is supposed to work and have followed all the things
required, including extending the desktop to this monitor, but the secondary
monitor still sits there as if it has no input. When the computer boots up
the secondary monitor works right up until I have to log on where it shuts
off and remains off no matter what settings I try to change in Windows.

This is driving me nuts, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shouldnt be, I dont use the new account and have since deleted it, but the
monitor still doesnt work on my account.

Its a while since I used an ATI multi monitor card, so from recollection.
You have gone into the display properties, should be an icon on the task
bar, and configured both monitors correctly? I seem to remember there is an
option to disable a monitor.
