Dual monitors & video card setup question

Am attempting a dual monitor setup on a new (4 mos) Dell Dimension 8250 P4
running XP Pro with Dell OEM Nvidia G Force 4 MX 420 video card running
Nvidia driver version 3082 (seems to be the most compatible with Direct 3D
games for this card anyway).

I have an old ATI All-in-wonder Rage II+ PCI video card from a previous
computer and would like to have two monitors. One just for help files and
tutorials, the other for actual work in progress.

All tech info I can find indicates this ATI card is compatible except for
driver support for the TV-out feature which is not a problem for me. ATI's
web site advises to use driver version 5.1.2505.0 "available on the XP
installation disk." The card installed OK and XP automatically picked up and
installed driver version 5.1.2535.0 from apparently the system files
resident on the computer but in the Device Manager the ATI entry has the
yellow background exclamation point over it and the properties message "This
device cannot start (Code 10)".

Any advice would be appreciated. Am I attempting the impossible here with
this card?? If so what would be a good choice for a cheap video card that
would serve my basic purpose of a second monitor just for readable text and
some simple graphics illustrations??

Thanks in advance.
