XP-SP2. trying to setup 2 19" LCD's. Right monitor, #2; was set as primary
and now I can longer change settings. Right-click on desktop>Properties and
nothing comes up. Go to Control Panel>Display and nothing comes up for
settings again.??? Does not matter which monitor I right click-on. Any ideas
how to get Display Properties back up? Thanks, Steve T.

I would first troubleshoot the software/drivers by visiting the hardware
manufacturer's web page for your video card and downloading/installing the
latest version of their control software/drivers.

OK, I got it "fixed" by disconnecting the right monitor and rebooting. Then
the Display properties appear. I changed it back to where the left monitor
is the primary monitor but the taskbar remains on the right monitor. Also,
the Quick Launch is in the correct area but the Start button is at the top
left of the right monitor and the systray area is in the bottom-left of the
right monitor next to Quick Launch. Haven't had any success trying to drag
the Start button and systray to normal areas. Thanks, Steve T.

Got everything working. Took some playing around with Taskbar/Toolbar
Properties until everything is in the correct position and rebooting. Don't
know how it got all screwed up. Now I can concentrate on what I really
wanted the dual monitor setup for. How do I set Excel to extend across both
monitors? Steve T.

You don't really set Excel up for this, you basically just drag the window
wider.

This really only works properly if both monitors are the same and are set up
the same. Different sizes, resolutions and aspect ratios will cause hte
two sections of the window to be different sizes.
