Running XP Home SP-2. If I have a dual monitor setup, will I be able to log
onto two different web sites? Question is based on receiving a live feed on
stock market prices on one monitor and being connected to trading floor on
the other monitor. Does one mouse work on both monitors? I suppose I could
have one monitor with 2 windows open but not sure of that. What is the
shortcut key to switch between open windows without closing one? Thank you,
Steve T.

Yes, but understand that it would be setup the same as if you had both sites
displayed side by side on one monitor. You just switch to use one monitor
to see one side and the other to see the other side.

It's only one video output being shared between two monitors and nothing
more.

Yes.

Think of having two monitors as having a single monitor that is twice as
wide. The only difference I can think of is that the task bar stays on the
first monitor and doesn't run across both.

So with your double-wide monitor you'll be able to do everything you can do
on a single one, but you'll have more desktop real estate, and can therefore
have more open windows visible at once.

Does one mouse work on both
monitors?

The single mouse works on both If the mouse is on the left monitor and you
move it to the right, when it disappears from from first monitor it will pop
up on the lefthand side of the second.

I suppose I could have one monitor with 2 windows open but
not sure of that.

Sure you can, if you have room to see what you want on both windows.

Alt-tab.

Thank you so much! What do I need as far as software/hardware to run the
dual monitor setup? The PC is a dual-core Dell running a Radeon X300SE 128mb
card. I plan on using the current 19" LCD with a 22" widescreen LCD. Thanks
again, Steve T.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

You need nothing regarding software. Windows comes with support for this
built-in

Regarding hardware, you need either a video card that supports two monitors,
or you need two video cards.

The PC is a dual-core Dell running a Radeon
X300SE 128mb card.

I don't know that particular video card, but you should check its
documentation, or the ATI web site, to be sure it can support two monitors.

I plan on using the current 19" LCD with a 22"
widescreen LCD.

Careful with that 22".Before you buy a wide-screen monitor, make sure that
your video card will support that aspect ratio.

I run with two monitors here, a 19" LCD and a 17" CRT. The LCD just replaced
a dying 19" CRT and now I 'm eager for the 17" to die, so I can replace it
with another 19" LCD.

Windows supports up to ten monitors. I don't want that many, but I'd love to
have four or five.

You do realize that only the active screen will be updating?
Or do you have a special program (like a small tv screen) that will provide
a live screen?

I do not have answers but a question. I am doing the same thing but I want a
powerpoint show to pay constantly on the 2nd monitor. The problem is when I
move to another application the powerpoint show stops because it is not the
active application.
Is there a way around this.
