Dual Machine Name ?

I have 2 machine names that when I ping each name, I get the same IP address
for both machine names...? I have isolated the actual machine and can see
nothing in computer properties that shows 2 machine names. I thought this
was impossible.
I do not have 2 nics, but I do have several wireless connections.
It seems like I have a virtual machine running on this PC, but I can't find
where it is and how to remove it. The machine name that I cannot ID is using
my standard naming convention. We are on a domain and behind a firewall with
the latest versions of AV for Exchange and Client Server.

Any thoughts...

No, there's nothing to prevent two DNS names from referring to the same IP
address. This can be done intentionally, usually for servers, but in this case
it would seem to have happened accidentally. It's harmless, but you might like
to remove the incorrect entry from the DNS. What sort of DNS do you use?

No, this doesn't indicate that there is a virtual machine running on the PC.
The two names both refer to the same IP address, so pinging one is exactly the
same as pinging the other.

Harry.
