hi,

i tried installing windows media center edition over xp professional (i
think) but it didnt work and now everytime i boot it shows a menu with
1. win xp pro
2. win xp pro install

i dont know if i should edit the boot.ini file which looks like this

[Boot Loader]
Timeout=50
Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /noguiboot /bootlogo
C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup"

should i delete the last line????? :confused:

Hi,

The last line is the one that refers to the failed setup and can be deleted.

Should be ok as is, but can be changed to the normal:

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS

rdisk(1) is not the normal.
rdisk(0) is.

Oops, yes, mis-typed that. rdisk(0) is correct for a standard system.
