Dual Boot: XP Pro and Win98SE on separate disks

XP Pro
Windows 98 SE

Situation: I have XP Pro on disk C and Windows 98 on disk D. I wish to have
a selection to boot either. Currently C will boot automatically with the
original boot.ini, D will also boot but only by physically disconnecting
power to "C" (Master disk). (Take the side of the case off, disconnect
power to C...boot it; D becomes C, etc., it then boots but obviously that is
not the answer.)

This does NOT work but at least it brings up the boot menu and works for XP:

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\win98rel1= "Windows 98"

Any help on this?

Thanx

Face,

In the Windows98 line of the boot.ini, try changing the disk(1) to disk(0)
and change the rdisk(0) to rdisk(1)- rdisk is the physical location of the
disk. Reboot... If that does not work, try changing "win98rel1" to "WINDOWS".

Thanks for the reply. I will try the disk&rdisk changes. Win98rel1 is the
name of the Windows directory for 98 and that change has been tried.
