This is to inquire if it would be possible to select either Win XP or Win98
by way of a start up menu.
I do have two drives (C:\and D:\) on my pc. I would like to run WinXP on
drive C: and Win98 on drive D:. Actually WinXP is already running on drive
C:.

If it is possible, please inform me as to what needs to be configured to
achieve this.
Thank you very much for taking time to reply.

It's possible, provided that the primary active partition (the C:
drive, in simple terms) is formatted in the FAT32 file system. MS-MVP
Doug Knox has kindly provided clear instructions:

Install Windows 98 after XP is Installed.

Hello Bruce Chambers,
The instructions are currently printing. I certainly will give that a try.
Thank you for quick reply.

Hi Heri,

Yes, it's possible. However, the boot volume must be using the FAT32 file
system for Win98 to boot from it. If not, you will need to use a boot
manager.

If your boot partition is using FAT32, see:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_9x.htm

If it is using NTFS, you will need one of these, and should follow the
vendors instructions for creating multiboot systems:

Boot Managers and Partitioning programs:

BootIT NG www.terabyteunlimited.com
Partition Magic www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic
Partition Commander http://www.v-com.com/product/pc_ind.html
