I have a dual boot system with win 98 on 1st partition
(c:) and win 2000 on 2nd partition (d:)

is there a way of preventing local win 2000 users from
writing to the win 98 partion?

thanks in advance for any help you can give me

That is not possible as Windows 98 does not use ntfs file system and generally is a
non secure operating system meant mosty for home type use. -- Steve

Consider a boot loader such as xosl that provides the abilities to hide
partitions and password protect boots.
