Dual Boot Recycle Bin

Sunny

Just wondering if this is normal ;
I dual Boot WinME and WinXP on "C" partitions of one hard drive.
They are hidden from each other using partition magic.
Items deleted from a second hard drive (also partitioned)
while in WinXP, show up in WinME recycle bin as well.

I guess that means Partition Magic didn't do a very good job hiding them
from one another. What version of PM are you dealing with?

I use PM7 & PQboot & never see deleted items from
hidden C drive.

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.

Hi, it's version 8.01 and I can't see the other "C" partition in Windows
Explorer.
Hard Drive 1 :
C - Windows XP (PM 8.01 installed)
C - Windows ME (PM 8.01 and Boot Magic installed)
E - Data
Hard Drive 2 :
D - Data
F - Data (NTFS) DVD and CD Burning folders
(WinME doesn't "see" the F partition)
G, H, I, - Burners and Card reader

In Explorer, each partition shows a recycle bin icon (empty), however the
bottom of the "folders" pane, shows a "Norton recycle Bin icon (full).

I disabled Norton's control of the recycle bin some time ago.
Serves me right for peeking in the bin while in WinME :)

While I don't recall actually tested it - which is strange seeing how many
years I've been running, and testing, a similar setup - I wouldn't think
that if you deleted something from the C: drive it would show up in the
Recycle Bin when in the other OS. If you delete something from D: etc it
will show up in both.

Same here, just have not "discovered" it before but it seems like it is
normal behaviour.

Hmm... PM 8.01 should be pretty good with it? Wow... That was the last
version of PM I bought and the last version I'll ever buy. (After that
Symantec dorked it all up in my opinion.) Out of curiosity? What OS did you
do the partitioning in? I've actually got to do an ME install as my VM broke
for no reason (that I can fathom) so I can at least try to reproduce it if
you'd like.

I did all the partitioning (and Boot Magic) in WinME.
Boot Magic requires FAT 32.
I also installed Partition Magic in WinXP, but Boot Magic wont install, as
it detects the install in WinME.
I am using FAT32 in all partitions except for one on the second hard drive.
(I bought PM8.0 before it was sold, pity the excellent on line tutorials are
no longer available)

Today's Superbowl Sunday - a holiday in my house - so expect a better answer
tomorrow if you'd like else feel free to ping via email and I'll actually
try to repro the bug. Can't hurt and might give you some insight if I find
anything of interest.
