Dual Boot Out of Order! HELP!

ADAM

I was trying to format my Slave Hard drive but couldn't
figure out how to do it. So after giving up on using
Disk Manager I decided to use my Windows 2000 disk just
to repartition it. I was distracted while doing it and
accidentally installed Windows 2000 on the slave drive.
I know that when you set up a dual boot system you need
to do it in chronological order. Now I can't boot to
windows XP! It just boots to Windows 2000! I've tryed
formatting the Slave drive with windows 2000 on it but it
still tries to load win 2000, but gives my an error!
This happens even when i select windows XP from the boot
menu! I just want the Slave as a second HD. Also even
if I take out the slave drive it still trys to load Win2k
but says it can't find the ntsknrl.exe or something. How
do i get myself out of this mess with out reformatting my
Master Drive. (It has all my data on it.) My Slave Drive
is not not big enough to back up all my data so i can't
copy it over and then reformat my Master! PLEASE HELP
ME!!

What you probably did was accidentally install the Win2000 boot sector
on your MASTER drive since it's trying to boot. (Microsoft operating
systems always default to the master drive's first active primary
partition.) The remainder of Win2000 (the \winnt folder) may have
been installed on the SLAVE drive or elsewhere?

Anyway, you need to boot your machine with your XP CD and use the
recovery console to fix the boot sector and restore XP. Once you've
restored XP, you can then use Disk Manager from within XP to format
the SLAVE drive.

How to use the recovery console:
