Is it possible to add the DUA component after the OS has been built?

I know you can reconfigure DUA on existing runtimes, but I
do not think you can push it out. If there is a way I
have never seen any documentation on it. This is
definetely a MS question.

This feature can only be added by including it in your configuration in
Target Designer, not applied to a runtime in the field.
