I have experienced a weird problem since 2 days ago.

I cannot keep my DSL Connection anymore. Every so many minutes, I cannot
browse the Internet. I check the connection Icon and I am still connected.
If I close the DSL Connection and reconnect, I can browse again. I can
reproduce this every time.

I have all of the latest patches and virus free. I was hit by the
W32.Spybot.Worm but Norton Antivirus cleaned it.

Any ideas, I have called Bellsouth (My DSL provider and they have not idea
why this is happening).

Thank you.

What's weird is that I have been working just fine with the DSL until a few
days ago....

Thanks
Marco

Hi Marco,

Suggestion:

Right click My Computer Icon/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager. Expand USB
Controllers/Double Click USB Root Hub. Select Power Management and uncheck,
Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.

I'd bet the DSL is malfunctioning. You can prove it by running the
ping program.

From a DOS prompt, run

ping yahoo.com
ping comcast.net
ping verizon.net

Should be at most 100msec.
I'd bet you'll get numbers greater than 1000msec.

You have to insist to your DSL provider; they'll just put you off if
they can. The ping data shows them you mean business.

My apologies to the cognoscenti if I have deviated from technogeek
jargon. I'm just relaying my experience. I'm an amateur and I know
it.

Good luck.
