Hello all,
I have been having this problem in a couple of my builds w. Vista Home
Premium. For some reason, CPU usage is always in the 40% range. Using Task
Manager > Show all Processes, I find that drvinst.exe under
c:\windows\system32 is always running. Why is this happening? I can
manually terminate it, but it's a pain to do so everytime the system boots
up. I've already checked Device manager, and there are no
uninstalled/problematic devices with a question mark. Here are my builds:
Build 1:
AMD AM2 6000+
4GB DDR2-800 RAM
Highpoint RocketRAID 2310 RAID card w. 4x 250Gb drives
MSI K9N Platinum SLI Motherboard
MSI 8600GTS video card
Build 2:
AMD AM2 6000+
4GB DDR2-800 RAM
Highpoint RocketRAID 2340 RAID card w. 16x 320Gb drives
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition Motherboard
XFX 7950GT video card
I've used Highpoint RocketRAID cards before on other builds, and these are
the first two that I'm noticing this issue. Is it possibly due to the 4GB of
installed RAM (I know windows only recognizes 3GB or so).
Thanks in advance!
