Dropped Connection to Mapped Network Drive

My connection to a mapped network drive is being dropped unexpectedly. The
connection appears to be being dropped after the computer has been idle for
only a few minutes. The connection is restored upon reboot. I can't find any
FAQ's on the problem.

Operating system is Windows XP Pro with SP2 installed.Using Norton Internet
Security with personal firewall enabled.

The network drive resides on a server running Windows 2000 server set up on
a simple workgroup network.

All other computers on the network do not seem to be having a problem
maintaining connection to the mapped drive, nor does the problem computer
appear to be losing its connection to the network.

Any thoughts on this problem would be appreciated

Thanks.

check power saving features for the NIC , there is a setting that is on by
default to power down the card if inactive ...worth having a quick look :>

Thanks for your response. I disabled power management for the network
adapter to see if that solves the problem.
