Drop down Window Won't stay open

When I open a drop down window - ie in Outlook to select a date, as soon as I
move the mouse to point to a date or to advance to a new month the drop down
closes. This also happens in Quicken, if I open a report as soon as I move
the mouse the report minimizes. Very frustrating. I would appreciate your

I found the answer right after I posted the question. This fixed it, so I
will post it for anyone else with this issue... Turn off "Activation follows
mouse" and/or "Autoraise when activating" in TweakUI

Have you been playing with TweakUI? Sounds like you might have the X-Mouse
activation on.
The "Activation follows mouse" check-box enables X-Mouse style window
activation. When X-Mouse style window activation is enabled, you need only
move the mouse into a window in order to give it focus. Normally, you must
click on a window in order to give it focus. This is a per-user setting....
If you check the "Autoraise when activating" check-box, then moving the
mouse into a window will not only give it focus, but also raise it to the top
as if you had clicked n it.
When I turn these options on using TweakUI I get the same stupid behaviour
that you get.
